On September 18th, at the macadamia nut planting base in Banniu Tun, Dongfeng Village, Changming Township, one could see a stretch of lush macadamia nut trees bearing abundant fruits. Farmers were busy harvesting the ripe nuts, creating a strong atmosphere of bountiful harvest. "I grow macadamia nuts on 5 acres of land. In the early stages of planting, my annual income was about 8,000 to 10,000 yuan. With technological advancements and industrial development, my annual income has steadily increased to 15,000 to 18,000 yuan," said farmer Qin Zhilong.
It is understood that ten years ago, villagers were generally cautious about nut cultivation, and the foundation for industrial development was weak. Since the designated assistance from the Department of Commerce of the autonomous region in October 2015, the nut industry in Dongfeng Village has achieved leapfrog development. Currently, among the 521 households in the village, 370 have participated in nut cultivation, with a coverage rate of 71%. The industry has radiated to multiple villages. In 2025, the village's production of green-skinned nuts reached 130 tons, a year-on-year increase of 62.5%. In the high-yield market environment nationwide, the average purchase price stabilized at 3.5 yuan/jin, with an annual output value of 910,000 yuan. It is expected that the production will exceed 200 tons in 2026, indicating sufficient momentum for industrial development.

To continuously expand the industrial scale and benefit more people, since 2025, the village work team has implemented precise measures to promote the quality improvement and upgrading of the industry. Through field research and external inspections, the "Guire No.1" variety with outstanding market advantages has been selected as the main planting variety. By integrating targeted poverty alleviation funds and assistance resources from Guangdong enterprises, a "subsidy + self-financing" model has been adopted to uniformly supply high-quality fruit seedlings. As of now, the village's nut planting area has increased by 1,700 mu, reaching a total area of 5,200 mu, and a large-scale planting pattern has been fully formed.
Addressing issues such as extensive management and protection, insufficient technology, and a short industrial chain in industrial development, the township party committee and government, in collaboration with the village work team, have made targeted efforts. They regularly invite agricultural technology experts to the village to conduct practical training on pruning, fertilization, and fruit preservation, providing hands-on guidance to farmers on scientific planting. At the same time, they actively connect with high-quality industrial resources and introduce projects such as orchard management, technical training, and rough processing, promoting the transformation of the industry from "large-scale planting" to "quality improvement".

Scientific management and protection have led to continuous improvement in industrial efficiency, with the local nut planting and production cycle being shortened to four years. Nowadays, during the harvest season, merchants come to purchase, enabling villagers to increase their income locally and significantly improve their living standards.
