China News Service, Guangzhou, September 20 (Xu Qingqing, Chen Lin) - Reporters learned from the Guangdong Sub-Administration of the General Administration of Customs on the 20th that in the first eight months of this year, the value of noodle and nut products made in Hong Kong and Macao exported to the mainland reached 430 million yuan, up 56.9% year on year; the value of pastry and biscuit products exported to the mainland was 1.22 billion yuan, up 6.3% year on year.
As the "one-hour living circle" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area accelerates its formation, residents in the three regions continue to upgrade their pursuit of quality of life. The scale of food trade in the bay area continues to grow, with a wider range of products and higher requirements for quality and freshness. Focusing on changes in trade demands, mainland customs authorities have deepened collaborative governance on food safety with departments such as the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Macao Municipal Government. Through signing cooperation arrangements, memorandums, and cooperation agreements, they have carried out a series of regulatory cooperation, continuously promoting regulatory model reforms, facilitating the convenient circulation of food in the bay area, and serving the innovative development of food trade.
According to statistics, in the first eight months of this year, the mainland supplied 34.91 billion yuan worth of food and agricultural products to Hong Kong and Macao, of which Guangdong accounted for about 60% of the total. The varieties covered a wide range, including meat, vegetables, aquatic products, dairy products, and more.
The mainland is also an important market for high-quality food products from Hong Kong and Macao. In response to the demands of the Hong Kong industry, and under the authorization of the General Administration of Customs, the Guangdong Sub-Administration of Customs has strengthened its consultations with the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, actively promoting the "expansion and enhancement" of customs clearance facilitation arrangements for Hong Kong-made food products. It has facilitated the inclusion of three categories of high-demand food products, namely tea, noodle dishes, and seasonings, into the scope of products eligible for port customs clearance cooperation, further enriching the supply of Hong Kong-produced food products in the mainland market.
The Customs of the Mainland and the IAM of Macao have jointly applied the "One Code Pass" traceability management model to establish a full-chain traceable supervision system that spans from the source of food production to port clearance. The scope of application has expanded from over 70 types of Macao specialty souvenir foods in the initial implementation phase to food ingredients required by catering enterprises in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone, with the coverage of types increasing to over 300. The efficiency of port inspection has been improved by more than 30%, precisely empowering Macao specialty foods to expand into the Mainland market.
The relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Sub-Administration of the General Administration of Customs stated that the customs will thoroughly implement the deployment outlined in the national "14th Five-Year Plan", continuously deepen the exchange and cooperation in inspection and quarantine among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, accelerate the "soft connectivity" of rules and mechanisms, facilitate cross-border trade of food, and better meet the people's diverse and high-quality food consumption needs.
